Visiting Stanley, Falkland Islands

A local guide to getting around Stanley and making the most of your time in the Falkland Islands — from the team at JS Cabs.

Getting around Stanley

Stanley is a small but spread-out capital, and while the town centre is walkable, many of the best visitor destinations — Yorke Bay, Gypsy Cove, FIGAS and FIPASS — require a taxi or other transport. JS Cabs is the local taxi service, and we're here to help you get wherever you need to go.

The town sits on a hillside above a natural harbour, with most amenities, shops and attractions within a short distance of the waterfront. The main road through Stanley connects the town centre to the outlying areas, and the MPA road heads west towards Mount Pleasant Airport about 35 miles away.

Whether you're arriving by cruise ship, flying in via MPA, or staying in Stanley for a few days, a local taxi is the most convenient way to explore. We know every road on the island and can take you to the places that matter.
